Canon unveils EOS M2, its second mirrorless compact

Canon has announced EOS M2, an update to its only mirrorless compact camera the EOS M, in Japan yesterday. One of the major issues with the EOS M was its slow autofocus, but the EOS M2 comes with Hybrid CMOS AF II system which Canon claims will give 2.3x faster autofocus speeds as compared to the last-gen camera.

Just like its predecessor, the EOS M2 sports an 18MP APS-C sized sensor with the ISO range going up to 12,800 and expandable to 25,600. As compared to the EOS M, the M2’s body has subtle changes in its design. Canon has reduced the body size by 8 per cent on the M2. The EOS M2 comes with built-in Wi-Fi which can be used for transferring images as well as for remotely operating the camera using the EOS Remote app. The body only price of the EOS M2 is 64,800 Yen (approx Rs 39,470) and with the 18-55mm kit lens its 84,800 Yen (approx Rs 51,652). India release dates are not yet out and there's no word on when the camera will launch outside Japan either.
