With Apple planning to bring its new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display to India later this week, the official site already shows a price hike on some of the older models. We had expected the price rise, but the reasons behind it are still unclear.
In mid-November, when rumours about these new iPads for India started surfacing, reports claimed that the company will be increasing the price of the 16GB cellular version of the iPad mini to Rs 30,900 while the 16GB Wi-Fi version will continue to sell for Rs 21,900. If you take a look at the official site, it shows these changes now.
As expected, Apple has also hiked the price of the iPad 2. In April, Apple had dropped the prices of the iPad 2 - 16GB Wi-Fi version was priced at Rs 24,500 and 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G model at Rs 32,900. Now, the company has reverted back to the earlier prices and is selling the 16GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi plus Cellular version for Rs 28,900 and Rs 37,900 respectively. However, e-commerce site Flipkart is selling these older iPad models at lower prices.
Price hike for the older models
Apple’s new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display are all set to launch in India on December 7. It looks like the 16GB Wi-Fi only model of the iPad mini with Retina display might be launched at Rs 28,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB Wi-Fi only models may set users back Rs 35,900, Rs 42,900 and Rs 49,900 respectively. The 16GB variant of the mini with cellular connectivity will be priced at Rs 37,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models of the same could come with a price tag of Rs 44,900, Rs 51,900 and Rs 58,900 respectively. The high-end iPad Air, on the other hand, might be launched with a price tag of Rs 35,900 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB Wi-Fi only models could come with a price tag of Rs 42,900, Rs 49,900 and Rs 56,900 respectively. The 16GB model with cellular connectivity might be priced at Rs 44,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models might sport a price tag of Rs 51,900, Rs 58,900 and Rs 65,900 respectively.
