Commemorating Children’s Day in its own way, Google has chosen to display a doodle that won its Doodle4Google contest in India today, depicting women empowerment. The doodle created by a Pune teen is titled “Sky’s the Limit for Indian Women”.The intricately designed doodle has been created by a 15-year old from Pune named Gayatri Ketharaman, a student of Bishop’s co-education school. Kethraman’s illustration won the chance to be the face of Google India for today out of the 1.5 lakh entries received from 100 cities and 1,500 schools in the country.

The first G is depicted by a classical dancer in full flow, while themes like academia, space travel and administrative services have been given a feminine presence. The subjects of motherhood and giving come out very strongly in the doodle today. “Each letter of the doodle depicts the trait of Indian women. She is graceful and elegant, adept at balancing work and home. She is a go-getter and also personifies motherhood," Kethraman said, describing her doodle. Google this year held this contest across three age groups in India – students from class 1 to 3 formed one group, while class 4 to 6 formed the second and the hird consisted of students in classes 7 to 10. Madhuram Vatsal from Lucknow won the first category, Binita Biswajeeta from Balasore won the second and Akash Shetty from Managalore won category three, even as Ketharaman emerged as the overall winner.Kethraman was chosen as the winner by a national jury consisting of actress Kirron Kher and political cartoonist Ajit Ninan. All the winners are to be presented with a Chromebook for their winning doodle entries.
