Nodwin Gaming opens Valve merchandise store in India

Tying up with Indian game distributor World Wide CD Roms and Valve, Nodwin Gaming, a subsidiary of the Nodwin Group, has opened up a digital store selling official Valve merchandise in India. Along with gaming-related t-shirts and mugs, you will also be able to buy Steam cards to refill your Steam Wallet. Sadly enough, the ability to buy Steam cards still seems to be in the works.Currently, the store doesn't seem to have much in stock, with most items being sold out and the remaining items only having one or two copies in stock. The items also seem to be priced exorbitantly, with a Dota 2 t-shirt costing as much as Rs 1,600. Buying anything from the store needs you to pay Rs 125 for courier charges for single items, and Rs 550 for bulk orders.

Merchandise available on the store includes t-shirts, chains, patches, mugs and glasses. More expensive items include plush toys and signed posters. The store also plans to sell Trading Cards in the future. Nodwin also plans to sell the licensed merchandise in tournaments that have been organised by another subsidiary, Re-Inforcements. Funnily enough, these physical stores will be called Secret Shops—a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Secret Shops in Dota 2.Other than this, Valve doesn’t have much of a presence in India. It is worth noting, however, that the company’s games make it here through retail channels as well, and are more often than not reasonably priced, with games like Left 4 Dead 2 costing Rs 1,499 back when it was first released, and the more recent Counter-Strike: Global Offensive costing Rs 699.
