Honda has confirmed pricing for its Civic Tourer 2014 model year range, to be manufactured at the company's Swindon plant ahead of an on-road date of February 2014.
Designed to offer improved comfort and efficiency, the new model year of Honda Civic Tourers includes numerous features designed to appeal to families including 624 litres of boot space and the company's unique 'Magic Seats' which allow the rear row to be pulled down completely for a load area with a 1,668 litre capacity.
This impressive load-carrying capability is supported by what Honda claims is a world's first rear adaptive damper system (ADS.) Designed to automatically adjust the rear suspension damping force depending on vehicle load and driving conditions, the company claims the technology leads to enhanced stability and improved comfort compared to rival systems.
The Civic Tourer 2014 series is also the first C-segment vehicle to include Honda's Driver Assistance Safety Pack, a £780 add-on for SE and higher trims which includes City-Brake Active System to help prevent or mitigate low-speed collisions, Forward Collision Warning, High Beam Support System, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Information and Cross Traffic Monitor capabilities. This can be further upgraded with the Safety Pack Two, available for £2,500 on EX and higher trims, which adds Automatic Cruise Control and an upgraded Collision Mitigation Braking System.
Two engines are available at launch, Honda has confirmed: a 1.8 litre i-VTEC petrol with 142PS of power output and a claimed 45.6mpg combined fuel efficiency, and a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel using the company's Earth Dreams technology to offer 120PS with an impressive 74.3mpg fuel efficiency and just 99g/km of carbon dioxide emission - making it exempt from vehicle excise duty.
UK pricing for the new Honda Civic Tourer starts at £20,265 on the road for the S-trim with 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and rises to £27,460 for the EX Plus trim with 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. All orders open towards the end of December, the company has confirmed.
