In the month of September, Chrome was used more than Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera combined, according to browser data released by Shareaholic. The social analytics firm has released browser share data that clearly shows Chrome dominating the browser space.
According to the report, the top four browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera – are used by more than 80 percent of users. In September, Chrome bagged the first spot with 34.68 percent market share, which was almost two times the number of Firefox users that month. The browser stood in the second place with 16.60 percent market share. Safari followed Firefox pretty close at 16.15 percent. Internet Explorer took the fourth position with 15.62 percent market share.
Chrome dominates...
Shareaholic has released data of the year 2013 so far, and points out that half of the browsers tracked show decline in usage, especially Internet Explorer. Interestingly, stock Android browser and Chrome experience are the only ones to have achieved double-digit growth.
On the other hand, IE is still considered to be the most popular browser by a wide margin, according to Net Applications. Shareaholic tracked 250 million users visiting its network of 200,000 publishers for the past nine months. Net Applications tracks data from 160 million unique visitors each month by monitoring some 40,000 websites for its clients. It should be noted that Shareaholic has included mobile browsers in the report as well.
