WB releases 17-minute video explaining Batman: Arkham Origins' gameplay

Warner Bros has released a new video for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins. The 17-minute-long video has Senior Producer Ben Mattes and Gameplay Director Michael McIntyre talking about some of the mechanics of the game. Check it out:

One of the key new additions to the game is the fast travel system. Following in the footsteps of Arkham City, Origins features an open world which can be a pain to travel through sometimes. To remedy this, the developers have added in a fast travel system using the Batwing. The developers claim that Origins features an open world that is around twice the size of the world in Arkham City. The game also features one of the most iconic locations from the DC Universe mythos—the Batcave. Here, Batman can get new gadgets, take part in training, use his supercomputer and talk to Alfred about the ongoing missions.

The training area in the Batcave lets players practice against all types of opponents as well as using all kinds of new gadgets. The example shown in the video involved practice with a non-lethal concussion grenade. The video also shows the three-way conflict between Batman, the assassins who want his head and the Gotham City Police Department who believe that Batman is a vigilante who must be stopped. Considering this is supposed to be pretty early in the Bat’s career, it isn’t surprising to see him hated by the police to such a degree.Batman: Arkham City is hitting stores in November. It will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
