Lumia users rejoice, Instagram finally coming to Windows Phone

Windows Phone users are going to love this little nugget. Instagram is finally coming to Windows Phone! It looks like the app-makers, who’re only present on Android and iOS, have finally buckled under pressure from Windows Phone users. The Verge reports that Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom has confirmed the fact that Instagram is finally coming to Windows Phone. "Our ultimate goal is to bring Instagram to everyone who wants to use it," he said. "We're looking forward to watching the Windows Phone community use Instagram to capture and share beautiful moments in the coming weeks."

I'm coming soon!

The lack of a big and popular application like Instagram had been a sore point for the Windows Phone community for far some time now. While Android and iOS were getting regular updates, new filters as well as the ability to shoot videos, Windows Phone users were left in the lurch by Facebook-owned Instagram. They had to rely on third-party applications to use Instagram, that too with minimal features. The only exception to this was 6tag, an unofficial Windows Phone app for Instagram users to upload videos and images. Nokia’s official Twitter account too has posted a tweet confirming that the application is making its way to the platform. Interestingly, the company also has an Instagram account now. Check out the post. The only dampener here is that there is no word on when Instagram for Windows Phone is coming, just Systrom’s word on the app making its way “in the coming weeks.” Watch this space for more information. At the Nokia World event held at Abu Dhabi, Nokia CEO Stepehen Elop, while launching a whole new range of Lumia and Asha devices, including the Lumia 1520, echoed Systrom's comment.
