At its Abu Dhabi Nokia World event, the Finnish mobile phone giant unveiled new handsets in the Nokia Asha series. Supplementing the existing Asha 501 phone, Nokia unveiled a Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 phones at varying price points. These will be available in red, green, yellow, cyan, white, and black from Q4 2013. Let’s start with the entry level Nokia Asha 500, which has a 2.8-inch display, a modest 2MP camera, and comes in single SIM and dual-SIM variants. The 500 is priced at $69 (approx Rs 4,200) and will be sold in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.Nokia Asha 502 features a slightly larger 3-inch display, a better-sounding 5MP camera with LED flash and is also a dual-SIM handset. This is price at $89 (approx Rs 5,400).

Finally, there’s the Asha 503, which is easily the more high-end of the phones. This one too has a 3-inch display and a 5MP camera with LED flash. But the big news here is that the 503 supports 3.5G connectivity, so one of the biggest complaints of the Asha 501 has been address. The 503 has the same price tag as the Asha 501, when it was launched. It will ship for $99 (approx Rs 6,000) from Q4. The Asha 503 gets some extra protection thanks to Gorilla Glass 2, and comes in single SIM and dual-SIM variants. In addition, Nokia unveiled the new Asha user interface that’s built for faster and easier sharing of images on social networks as well as easy access to more Fastlane features. Nokia highlighted that the newest Asha phones will come with Nimbuzz Messenger, the first Asha app supporting VoIP telephony, Whatsapp as well as a bunch of new apps such as Danger Dash, ESPN F1, ESPN FC, ESPN Hub, Goal Live Scores, LINE, Photofunia, PicFeed, and PicTag.
