Nike+ FuelBand SE revealed, but Android owners still miss out

Nike has refreshed its fitness range with the introduction of the Nike+ FuelBand SE, the newest version of its Nike+ FuelBand fitness device.

The Nike+ FuelBand, which launched in its original guise last year, tracks all day movement using the NikeFuel system to measure activity. The new FuelBand SE builds apparently delivers even more information and motivation in order to keep users moving throughout the day.

Firmware and hardware upgrades have been made to help users set and achieve fitness goals, including better water resistance and the addition of Bluetooth 4.0 technology to connect the FuelBand SE to the FuelBand iOS App.

"A redesigned circuit board provides greater flexibility and an internally-enhanced, simple one-button design drives the super bright LED," Nike added.

The “Win the Hour” feature tracks how much movement is accumulated at each hour throughout the day and encourages people to move more often by prompting users if they miss their goals. It also recognizes when goals are hit and lets users know. Move reminders are set in-app and on-band and motivate the user to move more and move often throughout the day. A new “Fuel Rate” feature tracks the rate at which NikeFuel is being earned.

Unfortunately, our main criticism of the original FuelBand remains true to this new model - there's no support for Android devices.

The Nike+ FuelBand SE will be available in black or a choice of Sport Pack colours including volt, Pink Foil or Total Crimson for $149 (roughly £95 before tax and VAT). It will be on sale from the 6th of November in the US, Canada, and the UK, along with France, Germany and Japan for the first time. You can re-order today from the official Nike website.
