Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has finally launched its latest smartphone in the mid-range segment, the Desire 500, for Rs 21,490 in India. The company has announced that that device can be picked up in retail stores starting from Wednesday. The handset was last seen being listed on a few e-commerce websites. While Snapdeal and Infibeam priced the device at Rs 20,482 and Rs 20,500 respectively, the handset was available on Flipkart for Rs 20,499. A quick look at the specifications reveals that the handset comes with a 4.3-inch WVGA display sporting a pixel resolution of 400x800. Internally, Desire 500 is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM. The device comes with 4GB of internal memory, expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card. On the camera front, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera paired with an LED flash. The device also comes with a 1.6-megapixel front shooter with a BSI sensor. The Desire 500 can also record videos at 720p and comes with Beats Audio system. The device also comes with an 1800mAh battery powering the show. In terms of connectivity, this dual-SIM smartphone comes with most of the usual suspects like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with A-GPS.
HTC has launched the Desire 500 in India
The handset measures 131.8x66.9x9.9mm and weighs in at 123grams. The handset runs on Android 4.2 with Sense 5.0 UI integrated and also brings features like Blinkfeed. The Desire 500 does not come with BoomSound, though, but does feature dual front speakers on the front panel, like the HTC One. While the mid-range smartphone has officially been launched, it is also expected that the One mini, which went up for pre-order yesterday, will also be seen in the Indian market soon.
