Gmail seems to be facing a likely service disruption across many countries at the moment. The disruption is causing inboxes to be unavailable to many users while error messages are showing up when you try to access Gmail.According to Down Right Now, Gmail seems to have been affected since about 9:30AM IST today. Google’s App Status Dashboard, however, does not show any issue whatsoever for that time. The last disruption according to the Dashboard was on October 28 and has been solved.

Twitter too is abuzz with news of Gmail being down. Tweeters have posted screenshots of error messages seen while trying to access Gmail. Mainly users are still being shown a Temporary Error 500 or 503 saying the Gmail account is temporarily unavailable and are beingredirected to the App Status Dashboard. Google faced its last major outage in August this year with the company’s services being unavailable for a full five minutes. Within that time, web traffic all over the world saw a nose-dive, shooting back up again only after services were partially restored. Google had acknowledged the downtime on its status page and pegged the outage duration between one and five minutes. Analytics firm GoSquared had said that the estimated drop in worldwide traffic was about 40 percent.
