Sky Store, the movie rental service from Sky, is now available to everyone in the UK and Republic of Ireland - whether they pay for a Sky TV subscription or not.

The service is now accessible through the SkyStore.com website, as well as on a NOW TV or Roku streaming media box, or YouView set-top box. This means any home with a broadband connection will be able to stream more than 1,200 titles to their TV or laptop.

New films including Man of Steel, The Hangover Part 3, Despicable Me 2 and The Lone Ranger are all available to rent now for £3.49 each, with new titles being added as they become available on DVD. Classic movies such as the Godfather, Forrest Gump and Top Gun are also available, with prices ranging from 99p to £1.99 per watch. Sky has also promised to add White House Down, Rush and Captain Phillips in the new year.

The move is part of a wider drive by Sky to broaden distribution of its content and give people new ways to access its programming, having previously been restricted to those subscribing to its satellite TV service.

"The launch of www.skystore.com to anyone in the UK and ROI follows on the back of growing demand for the rental service amongst Sky TV’s own customers. Movie rentals through Sky Store on Sky’s set-top box Sky+ have more than doubled year on year, with 2.1 million rentals in the 3 months ending 30 September," Sky said.
