We have been hearing about Samsung’s Project J for a long time, but we are yet to see a device that’s launched for the global markets through that initiative. The only phone that could qualify for the brand would be the Galaxy J, which is a Japan-only affair. The cool thing about the J is that besides top-end hardware, it also features a durable metal body.
Is this the metal-clad Galaxy J?
Now, it seems Samsung is finally ready to bring the J to other countries. Samsung’s Taiwan division has released a blink and you miss it teaser for a forthcoming high-end device, which is very similar to the Galaxy J. Engadget found an inscription on the phone, which is the same model number as the Japan-only phone. The trailer starts by giving us a several brief glimpses of the metal-clad Samsung phone with a silver finish. It also gives us a hint about a possible unveiling date; there’s a Galaxy Gear, which flashes today’s date. Check out the teaser here:
We don’t have much in the way of specs at the moment, but if Samsung decides to go with the same specs as the Japan variant, we will be getting a Snapdragon 800-powered phone with other equally high-end components. It seems to be based on the current flagship Galaxy S4.It has an S4-like 5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, and that SoC has a 2.26GHz quad-core CPU, along with Adreno 330 GPU. It also has 3GB of RAM, putting it well ahead of most competition in that regard. On the3 back is a 13.2MP camera with OIS, just like the LG G2. This should technically deliver better pictures than the Galaxy S4. Just like the S4, there’s a 2,600mAh removable battery and micro SD card support, which indicates it doesn’t have a unibody design. Internal storage is a healthy 32GB. We’ll find out soon enough if these specs are on the money or if we will see a different version of the Galaxy J unveiled today.
