LG G Flex hitting selected EE stores from Friday, on-sale in February

EE has announced that it will be offering hands-on demonstrations of the LG G Flex curved smartphone in stores from Friday, despite the handset not becoming available to buy in the UK until February 2014.

Announced back in October, the LG G Flex is designed to compete with Samsung's Galaxy Round with a curved form factor which the companies claim is more comfortable to use than a flat slab-like smartphone. Where the Galaxy Round curves across its horizontal axis, however, the G Flex curves vertically making it undeniably eye-catching. The device also includes a self-healing rear cover, designed to prevent scratches from tarnishing the finish.

Initially, LG launched the G Flex as a Korean exclusive and would not be pushed on a launch date for the UK. Now, EE has confirmed that it is to sell the Android-based handset, and will be offering hands-on time with it from Friday in selected stores.

The handset will only be available for trial in ten of the company's most popular retail outlets: the Westfield Shopping Centres in London's Stratford and White City, Oxford Street, the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, Clumber Street in Nottingham, the Trafford Centre in Manchester, Western Road in Brighton, Lions Yard in Cambridge, the Merryhill Centre in Merry Hill, and the Meadowhall Centre in Sheffield.

While the handsets will be on display for hands-on trials, they won't be available to buy immediately - EE has promised to open sales in February 2014 at a yet-to-be-confirmed price.
