Even while its website suffered some glitches during the first couple of days, Google’s Great Online Shopping Festival has churned out big numbers. Online retailers such as Myntra, Snapdeal and Jabong seem to have benefited by listing themselves on the GOSF website this year. Live Mint reports that traffic on websites nearly doubled for most online retailers and sales shot up manifold for them. Myntra’s marketing head, Vikas Ahuja, has said that traffic on its website doubled during the GOSF and revenues grew some 3.5 times over, compared to the days leading up to the festival.
GOSF gives push to retailers
Snapdeal’s VP of Marketing, Sandeep Komaravelly, said that the website saw an increase of 10 times in sales during GOSF. Yehbhi.com, yet another online retailer, said that its sales doubled and Jabong reports that its sales increased four or five times. This increase in sales figures took place despite the fact that a glitch marred the first few days of the festival. The website would throw up a 500 Server Error intermittently and would take a long while to load, leading to angry users voicing their discontent on social networking websites. “To a minor extent there was an impact from the glitch, because on the first day we saw a huge amount of traffic from the GOSF site, so our sales would’ve been much higher if the glitch hadn’t happened,” said Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director at Jabong.com. This time, Google ended up extending the duration of the three day festival, including December 14 to the list. Today is officially the last day of GOSF and you can still head on to the website to get yourself some neat deals. Check out some of the neat deals we've compiled for GOSF.
