Oracle has quietly acquired Bitzer Mobile–a mobile applications management solution to create secure enterprise lockers on smartphones–in order to address the security concerns over the rising trend of bring your own device (BYOD). Apparently, one of the reasons Oracle acquired the almost 3-year-old startup is because it doesn’t want to be left out in the race when it comes to security related to BYOD. Bitzer's technology allows the use of personal mobile equipment for secured, work collaboration.
Along with the ability to provide secure work collaboration using mobile phones, Bitzer also offers authentication, apps access, data control and security. It has been gaining attention from organisations to reduce security leaks recently.
