Those griping about the constraints of low storage space on the Ouya have something to look forward to: the company has unveiled a new all-white Ouya which, while running on the same hardware, sports 16GB of memory. Owing to the higher amount of memory, the new console costs $129, which roughly translates to Rs 8,035. It is currently available for pre-order for those living in the US, and those who buy it before December 8 will get the console in time for Christmas. The new all-white design is quite striking, and is reminiscent of Sega’s classic console—the Dreamcast. Except for the colour and memory, though, nothing seems to have changed. It still runs on Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor and still has 1GB of RAM. Memory woes should further be relaxed thanks to a recent software update which brought along the ability to run games off a USB drive.
The white Ouya reminds us of the Dreamcast
The Ouya is still quite young, with just a few months since its proper launch. Company boss Julie Uhrman has stated that it's too early to start drawing conclusions about the Ouya's future from the current sales figures. Figures for the console's games were revealed back in July. The sales figures of the games on the Ouya have been quite encouraging, despite the slow start, according to Uhrman. "Monetization on Ouya is so far better than we expected," said Uhrman. "It takes time to build what traditional consoles have had decades to build."
