MapmyIndia, one of the country’s foremost makers of digital maps and GPS navigation has announced the launch of multi-lingual and localised maps, version 8.1 for India. These maps feature voice guidance in nine regional languages other than English and cover more than two million kilometer road networks with advanced information like multiple names, road classification one-ways, turn restrictions, divider, service lanes, round-abouts, flyovers, tolls, slip roads, ramps and more.The latest version of the maps cover 6,028 Indian cities at street level, with house address level data for 52 cities included. About 88 cities have 2D and 3D information about landmarks too. The maps also contain information about 10.54 million points of interests and information about 600,000 villages.

Some of the other important features that the maps offer are information about day-time turn based restriction on roads, live traffic update, junction point views for easy navigation, speed limit warning and tourist guides. You will also get information regarding geopix images, via point feature, text-to-speech, and ferry guides. MapmyIndia has been adopted by several mobile handset and car manufacturers to help users with navigation. The software is already a part of cars like the Honda City, Tata Manza, Mahindra XUV 500 and other cars from companies like BMW, Jaguar, Land-Rover, Mercedes, Toyota, Volkswagen, Renault, Mitsubishi, GM, Ford, Tata, Mahindra and Maruti. Mobile manufacturers like Nokia, BlackBerry, Samsung and iBall too are offering the company’s applications pre-loaded onto their phones.
