Google first showed us a clear glimpse of the Nexus 5 in a promotional ad for Android KitKat. Now it seems the Mountain View-based company may have given us a glimpse of a new Nexus tablet on the brand new Android website. An 8-inch or thereabouts tablet was spotted on the revamped website, which has since been replaced with an image of the 2013 Nexus 7. The tablet seen in the original image had much thinner bezels than the current Nexus 7. As a result, the screen size looked noticeably larger.

The top edge of the mystery tablet also looked much more rounded than the Nexus 7. It could be a random render left behind by a particularly lazy graphic designer, but given Google’s penchant for easter eggs and the likes, we can’t entirely discount an 8-inch Nexus tablet. Having said that, there haven’t been any strong murmurs about a Google tablet in that size. In our opinion, another ‘small’ tablet from Google makes little sense considering even the new Nexus 7 hasn’t hit all markets yet.If there’s any Google tablet that needs a revamp, it’s the Nexus 10. Contrary to rumours, Google didn’t announce a revamped Nexus 10 along with the Nexus 5. So it could very well be that the image in question is a very half-baked render of the 10-inch tablet.
