Joining the gold brigade, smartphone manufacturer HTC has unveiled a golden-coloured version of the HTC One. This time around, the device does not come from Goldgenie or as a limited MOBO edition nor crafted from real “gold”. The company has simply added a new champagne gold colour option for the HTC One, which is already available in silver, blue, black and red. It is worth noting that gold has increasingly become a favored option among smartphone users, ever since Apple launched the gold-dipped iPhone 5s. Sporting a brushed body and unibody design, the gold version, far from looking tacky, comes across as a rather classy and sophisticated handset. Philip Blair, President of EMEA commented, “Building on the all metal design of the HTC One, and the recent success of the HTC 18 carat gold MOBO phone, we are excited to have developed our own gold device, offering yet more choice to consumers”.

A closer look at the device will remind you of earlier leaked images that showed off the HTC One in a golden avatar. At the time, the leaked images showed off the front casing but did not include the display of the smartphone, making it difficult to validate the credibility of the same. HTC currently plans to launch the gold One in Europe. However, a new report shows that the gold-colored handset is already available from Finnish retailer Giganitti for €650 (Rs 54,850 approx).
The HTC One champagne gold packs in all the features we have seen in the original device. This includes HTC Zoe, HTC BlinkFeed and HTC BoomSound. A quick look at the specs sheet reveals a 4.7-inch Super LCD3 display with a full HD (1080 x 1920, 469 ppi) resolution. It runs on Android Jelly Bean, but HTC will be releasing the KitKat update soon. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM.
