Rockstar has released details of a free downloadable content pack for GTA 5, dubbed the Beach Bum Update, which adds new weapons, vehicles, jobs and character customisation options to the GTA Online multiplayer mode.
The Beach Bum Update will be made available to all GTA 5 owners free of charge next Tuesday, as part of an update that brings the game to version 1.06. The update includes two new weapons, the SNS Pistol and Broken Bottle melee weapon, and four free vehicles: the BF Bifta dune buggy, Canis Kalahari off-road truck, Bravado Paradiso beach camper van and the Speeder speedboat.
The update also brings a selection of new jobs which can be completed in order to earn in-game virtual cash, known as GTA$, to spend on more weapons, vehicles, houses, or even clothing. A full list has not been provided, but Rockstar has highlighted a new Grass Route race, a survival mission at Del Perro Pier, a parachuting course down towards Vespucci Beach, a motorbike race dubbed Sundae Driving and a team deathmatch for four to eight players at Paleto Beach.
Finally, the Beach Bum Update adds new beach-themed customisation options for characters including board shorts, surfer-wear, tribal tattoos, and new haircuts.
Rockstar has promised to continue adding additional content for the game, promising full cooperative heists, a capture the flag mode, and the upcoming release of the Content Creator to allow gamers to modify the game directly. Single-player story mode content is also due to be released in the near future, but Rockstar has yet to put a firm date on its launch.
