To bring in the cheer for the holiday season, Google has come up with a new marketing effort called Winter Wonderlabs. All across the US, Google is setting up some temporary installations – where it always snows! – and are inviting users around the area to come check out Google products. Google is going to offer users a chance to create and preserve slow motion videos inside a giant Snow Globe. You can bring your friends along or just go there by yourselves, dance and jump around and have Google make a video for you. You can head back to the website and key in your snow pass ID to view your video and share it.
Inside the Winter Wonderlab, Google has also set up Play Zones where you can just unwind by playing on the various gadgets on display, experience Google Play services and more. The gadgets on display include the all-new Nexus 7, Chromecast, Chromebooks and Google Play services. For those of you who thought you could get your hands on the new Nexus 5 or the Google Glass, tough luck.
Of course, what good is this pop-up display if you can’t purchase products? Once at Winter Wonderlab, you can simply buy the Chromecast, Chromebook and the Nexus 7 from the pop-up store. The interesting point here is the fact that the pop-up display is one of the first times the company has forayed into retail. The nifty-looking set-up is slated to go on till nearly Christmas Eve in some cities. The display is currently set up in cities like New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California. If only we could find pop-up Google stores in other countries like India as well.
