BlackBerry ties up with Micromax and Spice for pre-installing BBM on Android phones

BlackBerry has two major announcements to make regarding BBM this week. Not only has BBM Channels emerged from beta, the Canadian company has said that its app will now also come preinstalled on certain Android handsets now. The social feed feature on the BlackBerry Messenger will now be available for all users who have a BlackBerry handset running BB5 and up starting now. The app had been available through BlackBerry’s Beta Zone back in May but it’s now making its official debut now.

Using the app, you can follow brands, businesses and more. BBM Channels is a mini social networking service in itself. You can like, comment and share updates posted on the channel as well as strike up a private conversation with the page’s owner and managers. If you’re a manager you can share not just posts and updates but even photos and GIFs. The Channel feature will be coming to Android and iOS soon.As far as BBM on Android goes, BlackBerry has announced that it has struck up partnership with some leading OEMs across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Indonesia and India in order to have the cross-platform messaging app come pre-installed on handsets. Indian companies like Celkon, Spice and even Micromax will have BBM pre-installed on handsets.Micromax’s Canvas Turbo already has BBM pre-installed on it and Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder of Micromax has said that the app will come out of the box with the every upcoming Canvas phone in the future.Meanwhile, you can still download BBM for Android from the Google Play Store and BBM for iOS from the App Store. Since there are no queues to use the app anymore, you can simply download and start passing your BBM PIN to your friends.
