Xolo launches Tegra 3-powered Play Tab 7.0 for Rs 12,999

After launching the 8-inch Xolo Tab last month, the company expands its tablet portfolio further with the launch of the new Play Tab 7.0 for Rs 12,999. It is first in the company’s Nvidia Tegra-based series of tablets aimed at offering enhanced gaming experience. The Play Tab sports a 7-inch 1280 x 800 WXGA IPS LCD display, along with support for 1080p video playback. Some other features include 8GB on-board storage, microSD card support up to 32GB and 4000 mAh battery. It is powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 mobile processor, which has a quad-core architecture and a fifth battery-saver core that extends battery life. The gaming-centric tablet also gets Nvidia ULP GeForce GPU.

The Play Tab 7.0 comes pre-loaded with TegraZone that allows consumers to find, explore and download Tegra-optimized Android games. It claims to offer a console-quality gaming experience, with more realistic, interactive and challenging gameplay and graphics. We managed to spend some time with the Nvidia reference device on which the Play Tab 7.0 is based. Here's a look at some of the special features. “Xolo Play Tab 7.0 marks the first tablet in the XOLO Play category of products, powered by NVIDIA Tegra. Similar to XOLO Play T1000 smartphone launched in July, the Tab delivers similar entertainment now on a bigger 7-inch screen,” said Sunil Raina, Business head at Xolo. The Xolo Play Tab 7.0 is now available in retail stores across the country.

Xolo has tried to set itself apart from other Indian manufacturers by putting its weight behind Nvidia's Tegra platform. Earlier, the company had launched the Tegra 3-powered Play T1000 smartphone, which was positioned as a gaming device.
