EA has announced that the upcoming new game in the Sims franchise will start shipping in autumn 2014 worldwide. The game, titled The Sims 4, is currently being developed at Maxis’ The Sims Studio. According to EA, it will be a definite update over earlier titles in the series. It will feature new creative tools and enhanced emotion and intelligence.“The Sims franchise has the best fans in the world and their passion and enthusiasm is at an all-time high,” said Rachel Franklin, Vice President and General Manager of The Sims Studio. “Those millions of voices will fuel our development process, helping The Sims 4 to be the most ambitious and the best game our studio has ever made. We can’t wait to see our fans reaction when The Sims 4 comes out in autumn 2014.”

The new game will be expanding on the personalisation options that have been offered in previous games of the series, and is said to have new and intuitive tools to do so. Players will also have the ability to share whatever they create with their friends. The series can be counted as one of the most popular franchises in gaming history and has managed to sell more than 150 million copies worldwide as of May 2011, making it the best-selling PC game in history.The franchise is the brainchild of Will Wright and made its debut during the turn of the millennium in 2000. It revolves around the player making a Sim or a family of Sims and then controlling everything they do in their lives, ranging from their eating habits to personal hygiene to love lives.
