Samsung may launch dual-core, dual-screen Galaxy Golden flip phone in India

Samsung’s Galaxy Golden, the flip phone sporting two touchscreen displays, is expected to be launched in India anytime soon. First spotted by AndroidOS, retailer Mahesh telecom has tweeted that the smartphone will be hitting the Indian market in a few days for a price of Rs 49,900. The Galaxy Golden was last seen in August and runs on Android 4.2. The highlight of the device is its two 3.7-inch AMOLED displays and the retro flip design. Samsung has also included a physical alphanumeric keypad. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor.

Coming to India soon?

Here’s a quick look at some of its key specifications:

  • 3.7-inch Super AMOLED WVGA dual touchscreens with 480 x 800 pixels of resolution

  • 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera

  • 16GB onboard storage

Samsung hasn’t released Galaxy Golden in any market so far, except Korea. And if this news is to be believed, then the company could be bringing the phone to India soon, considering the upcoming festive season. However, the price tag of Rs 49,990 appears to be a tad too much for this dual-core device. It should be noted that the Note 3 is selling around Rs 47,000. There is no official word from Samsung about releasing the Galaxy Golden for the Indian market yet. While flip phones may have faded out with the rise of the touch screen, you can still check out some of the iconic flip phones from the past.
