OptimaSmart OPS-80 and OPS-80Q phablets launched in India

The growing budget-smartphone market in India gets some more options in the form of the newly launched Optima OPS-80 and OPS-80Q. The official website lists the OPS-80 at a best buy price of Rs 8,449 while it hasn’t mentioned the price of the OPS-80Q. They could be priced almost similar as OPS-80 has a larger display and battery; the 80Q gets higher display resolution, better processor and Android version. Besides, other specs appear to be almost similar. The Optima Smart OPS-80 sports a large 5.3-inch display. It is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor coupled with 512MB RAM. However, it runs on the older Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version. The Q80 includes a 2500 mAh battery.

Let’s quickly take a look at the specifications of the OPS-80:

  • 5.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800p resolution

  • Dual SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi

  • Bluetooth, GPS

  • 8MP rear snapper, 1.3MP front-facing camera

  • 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card slot

On the other hand, the Optima Smart OPS-80Q sports a slightly smaller 5-inch display but gets a higher resolution and runs on the more current Android 4.1 Jelly Bean version. On the camera front, it comes equipped with an 8MP rear shooter and a 2 megapixel camera for video conferencing. The official site lists an unspecified 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, along with 512MB RAM. There's a meagre 1800mAh battery, which doesn't inspire much confidence.

And here’s a look at the specs of the OPS-80Q:

  • 5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 960 x 540 pixels of resolution

  • Dual SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi

  • Bluetooth, GPS

  • 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera

  • 4GB onboard storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card
