The attacks aren't automated. Most of them require participation from the user to some degree, such as having to actually download the malicious files on to their computers. Usually, this is done by fooling the user into thinking they're downloading legitimate files or programmes. "This places India in the 18th place worldwide when it comes to the dangers associated with surfing the web," the report said. The Internet isn't the only way malware propagates itself. Many are also attacked because of USB drives and CDs, among other offline methods. According to Kaspersky, 52 percent of users were attacked through these methods. The company's products detected 146,502,614 such incidents in India."The threat landscape in the country continues to evolve, with cyber criminals finding innovative tactics and means to attack users," Altaf Halde, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab in South Asia said, according to the Economic Times.Kaspersky Lab is the maker of one of the most popular antivirus and malware protection softwares in the world.
