Nimbuzz, Spectranet now offer international voice calling at 1 paisa per second

Instant messaging platform Nimbuzz has now partnered with Internet service provider Spectranet to launch a new low cost Internet-powered international calling platform. And the good news for users is that the rates can go as low as one paisa per second. Using Spectranet’s “hello ip” service, which will be powered by instant messaging platform, Nimbuzz users will be able to make affordable international calls from across India to all over the world. While talking about this, Nimbuzz CEO Vikas Saxena said, "Hello ip will allow our Indian users to reach out to their loved ones across the world without cost concerns. It is a unique proposition that allows Nimbuzz users to make calls at rates almost 450 per cent less than that are available in the market today.” At the announcement, the Nimbuzz executive said that the service will give users rates of a paisa per second while making calls to the US, Canada and the UK. The rates for calls, however, will vary for other countries. Spectranet CEO Udit Mehrotra, while announcing the service, said that, "The service can be used across all data networks and Wi-Fi starting today. Nimbuzz and Spectranet hello ip have also set up 24x7 calling email support to assist users with their concerns around Spectranet hello ip powered by Nimbuzz."

It should be noted that the new service is India’s first legal VoIP (Voice over IP) service and users can pay for the same using credit or debit cards. While talking about this, Mehrotra said, "In a matter of a few weeks, users will be able to buy pre-paid calling cards to use this service." Saxena, during the announcement, said that Nimbuzz currently has 25 million users who will be able to benefit from this service, while Mehrotra estimated that the current user base for this service could double in the next 12 to 18 months. Both Idea Cellular and Airtel recently hiked up their international calling tariffs by a considerable margin. Currently, Airtel users have seen an 80 percent increase in the overall international calling rates, while Idea Cellular users have to shell out 25 percent more for their overseas calls.
