The Nexus 5 has broken cover yet again before Google can officially announce it, but the company only has itself to blame for this latest leak - it accidentally published a Play Store listing for the smartphone late last night.
Although no hardware specifics were mentioned, the most important reveal was price. Google will be selling the 16GB model for $349 in the US, which is roughly £215 before taxes and VAT. Considering the Nexus 4 launched at £279, we would be surprised if Google manages to drop the price for the new model.
Based on earlier leaks, we already have plenty of details regarding the Nexus 5's internal hardware. Expect the handset to have a 4.95in, Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 4G support and an 8-megapixel rear camera, possibly with optical image stabilisation.
The Nexus 5 is also tipped to be the launch device for the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat. It should introduce a range of new changes to the operating system, including a unified messaging app that combines Google hangouts, SMS text messages and Google+ messaging. Based on leaked code, it could also bring a new set of flat icons and integrate Google Now into the Android home screen.
We're still no closer to learning a launch date, especially as the rumoured October 14th reveal has come and gone, but with so many details now out in the open it can't be long until Google's latest flagship smartphone arrives.
