Following an Early reveal of the Nexus 5 last week, it would appear that the Google Play store is quickly becoming leakier than a sieve when it comes to keeping Google's new devices a secret. Over the weekend, purported images and specifications for a new Nexus 10 tablet appeared and were quickly taken down, but not before someone could screenshot the evidence.
The original Nexus 10 tablet is beginning to look a little old in the tooth, particularly compared to the speedy new Nexus 7 and svelte iPad Air, so it should come as no surprise that Google is looking to replace it with a new model.
We now have our first idea of just how powerful its replacement will be, after an eagle-eyed gadget fan sent screenshots to PhoneArena that show a new Nexus 10 model sat next to the 2013 Nexus 7 and upcoming Nexus 5 smartphone on the Google Play store.
The 10in tablet, which is likely to be manufactured by Asus on Google's behalf, will apparently include a 2,560x1,600 resolution display protected by Gorilla Glass 3, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and 3GB of RAM, along with an improved 8-megapixel rear camera and larger 9,500mAh battery.
At 584g and measuring 258x172x7.9mm, it's both thinner and lighter than the outgoing model. It will almost certainly ship with the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat.
Unfortunately there was no mention of price or availability in the leaked images, so we'll have to wait until Google makes the device official to learn if they are accurate, or merely an elaborate hoax. However, with the nexus 5 tipped for a November launch, we may not have long to wait to find out.
