Mark Zuckerberg becomes highest-paid tech CEO with $2.3 billion earned in 2012

Mark Zuckerberg has made quite a bit of money off of Facebook. How much money? According to a new GMI Ratings report, the CEO made almost $2.3 billion last year, which essentially makes him the highest-paid CEO in North America. There were others on the list, such as Apple boss Tim Cook, who made $143.8 million and Liberty Media Corp's Gregory Maffei, who made $254.8 million. They don't come close to Zuckerberg's payout, though."In the more than ten years that GMI has been publishing this report, I’ve never seen a top ten Highest Paid list that loomed this large," Senior Research Analyst Greg Ruel. "It’s the sheer size and volume of equity awards granted to these top executives that catapults their total compensation to astronomical levels."

While Zuckerberg may be happy, his sister, Randi Zuckerberg, doesn’t seem to be. She recently penned a new book for children that addresses the obsessive social-media culture prevalent in many parts of the world. The move may cause sparks to fly, and we aren't just talking about the family reunion. As a former Director of Market Development as well as a Spokeswoman for the Facebook, Randi played her part in making Facebook a household name. So it will be interesting to see how the critics' take on the book. The book, named Dot, is slated to go up for sale on November 5. There is another, adult-oriented book by her in the works, named Dot Complicated, is in the works.
