Images of Sony's upcoming A7, A7r full-frame mirrorless cameras leaked

As Sony seems to be keen on expanding its mirrorless camera range, images of two new cameras by the company have leaked. One of these cameras is a 24MP Sony A7 which will be a full-frame E-mount mirrorless camera. The other is the more expensive and higher resolution Sony A7r which will have a 36MP sensor. The images were first put online by Digicameinfo and show hints of Sony’s NEX camera range in them. The report was backed up by Sony sending out official invites for a “stunning event” slated for October 16, where it is rumoured that the cameras will be officially launched.

The Sony A7 in the leaked press shots looks to have attached the rumoured 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens and the A7r seems to have attached the more expensive 35mm f/2.8 Zeiss lens with a higher resolution. There’s also a built-in electronic viewfinder in the cameras. Sony Alpha Rumors has claimed that the A7r’s 36MP sensor will omit the usual anti-aliasing filter quite like the Nikon D800E. This will preserve a lot more detail, it has been reported. The A7 is supposed to be priced at $1,700 for the body and $2,000 with the kit lens. The more-expensive A7r will set you back about $2,200 for the body alone but there is no word on what it will cost with the kit.

While there is hope that these cameras will be announced in the Sony Hong Kong event tomorrow, the Sony RX10 camera with fixed ultrazoom, the Sony G 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 and other accessories are also expected to be released.
