A service manual for Google's upcoming Nexus 5 smartphone, leaked from manufacturer LG, has revealed the device's final specifications. If the leak proves accurate, the Nexus 5 promises to be a considerable upgrade over its predecessor.
Designed to replace last year's Nexus 4, the Nexus 5 will once again be manufactured on Google's behalf by LG. Numerous rumours have promised to reveal various features of the device, but a leaked draft service manual provided to Android Police has laid the device bare ahead of its launch later this year.
The service manual, which has been removed from the site on request from LG, suggesting that it is indeed a true although non-final document, goes into deep technical detail regarding the design and construction of the handset. However, it's the specifications that stand out as the most interesting section.
According to the manual, the Nexus 5 will be based around a 4.95in, 1,920x1,080 IPS display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor running at 2.3GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM. An eight megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) looks set to appear on the rear, while the front has a 1.3 megapixel camera. Storage capacity will be a choice of 16GB or 32GB.
The device uses the same micro-SIM cards as its predecessor, with both 3G and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity, along with wireless charging, near-field communication (NFC), and Bluetooth connectivity. A 2,300mAh battery powers the handset, but the manual does not provide runtime information.
Neither Google nor LG have commented on the accuracy of the leak, beyond the request for the manual to be removed from the site. The only red flag is the mention of Bluetooth 3.0 rather than the newer 4.0 standard, but otherwise it's a very convincing leak - we'll be able to verify its accuracy once Google makes the Nexus 5 official.
