Fujifilm has launched two new cameras today, the X-E2 and the X-Q1. While the X-E2 is supposed to be a direct upgrade to the X-E1, the XQ1 is reminiscent of the XF1.The X-E2 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera and features a 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor with an autofocus time claimed to be at 0.08 seconds. The camera’s sensor uses an original colour filter array with a randomised pixel generator that removes the need for an Optical Low Pass Filter (OLPF) that degrades resolution. It also has the first Lens Modulation Optimiser (LMO) for ILCs.

The EXR Processor II in the camera more than doubles the processing speed of the previous generation and it is able to harness information taken from over 100,000 phase detection pixels in the X-Trans CMOS II to deliver great imaging. The camera has a startup time of 0.5 seconds and a minimal shutter lag of 0.05 seconds and high-speed continuous shooting of 7.0fps. The camera will also feature the Digital Split Image technology that makes manual focus better and will have the ability to shoot 60fps 1080p videos. Obviously, the camera comes with built-in Wi-Fi that lets you transfer images. Users can also download the Fujifilm Camera App for iOS and Android to transfer up to 30 pictures at a time. The Fujifilm XQ1, on the other hand, comes with a Fujinon F1.8 4X zoom lens, a 12MP 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor with phase detection. This camera too comes without the need for an OLPF and comes an LMO as well as a 3.0 stop Optical Image Stabilisation for low light shooting. The Fujinon F1.8 4x zoom lens (25-100mm) is constructed with four aspherical and three extra low dispersion lenses and each lens surface comes with a coating to reduce flare and ghosting. The XQ1 also has a wide sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO12800.

Fujifilm claims that XQ1 has the “world’s fastest” AF of 0.06 seconds, a shooting interval of 0.3 seconds and a shutter lag of 0.015 seconds. With its auto switching AF, the XQ1 combines contrast AF with an improved phase detection AF algorithm for the ability to capture low-contrast subjects in low light as well as for high-speed responsiveness. It also gives users Focus Highlight Peaking that outlines high contrast areas of subjects during focusing. The Fujifilm XQ1 shoots full HD videos with up to 60fps and AF tracking performance and also has the much-needed Wi-Fi button. Both the cameras have an Advanced Filter function and Film Simulation modes to let users add filters to images. The Fujifilm X-E2 will ship in the US in November for $1,000 (Rs 61,280 approx) for the body only and $1,400 (Rs 85,792 approx) along with an 18-55mm f/2.8-4 zoom lens. The XQ1 will be priced a $500 (Rs 30,640 approx) in late October. There is no word on international availability yet.
