Foursquare has painted its website in a brand new look. The website will now supplement the phone applications in order to help you discover new places, only this time you can stay right at home to search for them.In a blog post announcing the new look, the Foursquare team wrote that the website is now smart enough to know what you’re looking for. For example, on a Saturday evening, the website will show you results relevant to dining out and nightlife whereas on a Sunday morning the Foursquare website will show you results for brunches and spots on a similar line.
The focus is on discovery
The intuitive new website is pretty interesting and is more often than not accurate about its ideas on what you could want. It’s a late weekday afternoon and Foursquare’s website is now showing us coffee spots and pubs that we may want to visit later in the evening. The Foursquare website will now also showcase specials and money-saving deals prominently on the home page. The service also wants to turn the website into an efficient city-guide that you can use to plan trips in advance or even when you’re out and about in the city. You can simply select the city you’re going to be travelling to or even wish to visit, and you’ll be able to see all the must-visit places, as chosen by locals. Once you log-in, you will also see tips from Foursquare friends who’ve already been there and have left tips.
Specials and offers get a sweet spot on the site
It’s interesting to see Foursquare try and evolve into something more than a simple tool to check-in and share your location with friends. It’s trying to turn into a city-guide with a multi-pronged approach towards discovery and as well as specials and this revamped website seems to be only a step in the way for Foursquare.
