Datasat Digital Entertainment, one of the leading digital entertainment solution companies for home and professional cinema, has announced a signed agreement with Auro Technologies that will see Auro-3D integrated into Datasat's range of high-end consumer audio processors. This agreement brings the unique Auro height layer within digital surround sound to the luxury home cinema market. The Datasat RS20i audio processor featuring Auro-3D will be available in Q1 2014.

Pitched in lines of the recent flurry of 3D sound formats and technologies, Auro-3D consists of three horizontal layers around the listener adding a height and top layer, currently absent from any other conventional home-audio surround sound format. This allows Auro-3D to produce accurate playback of native audio in 3D in a wide range of speaker configurations up to 13.1. This agreement will facilitate the integration of this exciting new 3D sound format into future releases of the Datasat RS20i audio processor. The processor is widely recognised as delivering the highest quality sound reproduction available in luxury home cinema. Auro-3D integration will enable Datasat customers the flexibility to create the latest home cinema experience that takes full advantage of the new generation of 3D sound cinema releases.

This agreement builds on the relationship established between both companies when Barco selected Datasat audio processor technology to provide the core of its Auro 11.1 by Barco solution for professional digital cinema.

Kamal Hasan's Vishwaroopam released in 2013 was mixed in native Auro 3D format and was also played backed in Auro 3D format at a handful of theatres down in South India. While Auro3D has to come a long way for sure, it wil be reallly good to see some more titles adopting to newer audio formats so that movie buffs can enjoy all the different formats comfortably on their home-entertainment setups.
