Apple unveils 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros with Retina display

Apple has updated its MacBook Pro line with new 13-inch and 15-inch Retina models at its big event on October 22. The models will sport fourth generation Intel Core processors, longer battery life, faster flash storage and next-generation Wi-Fi. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is sleek at 0.71-inches and features a fourth generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processors up to 2.6GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1GHz. Compared to the previous generation, the new MacBook Pro with Retina has Intel Iris graphics for up to 90 percent faster performance. The model can also be configured with faster dual-core Intel Core i7 processors for up to 2.8GHz speed and Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz. The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display too has the same Intel Core i7 processor and can be configured with the Core i7 processor for faster performance. The larger MacBook Pro model will include Intel Iris Pro graphics for greater performance or Iris Pro and GeForce GT 750M discrete graphics with 2GB of video memory.

The updated MacBook Pro models feature pixel-pushing power without compromising on battery life. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is said to deliver nine hours of battery life, two hours more than the previous generation and up to nine hours of iTunes movie playback. The 15-inch model is said to be able to provide eight hours of juice, up one hour from its older counterpart, and eight hours of iTunes movie playback. The new models feature PCIe-based flash storage with up to 60 percent faster read speeds than the previous generation. It also features the next-gen 802.11ac Wi-Fi for three times faster connectivity than the 802.11ac vase station. Its Dual Thunderbolt 2 ports deliver up to 20Gbps of bandwidth to each external device that will allow you to connect to multiple displays and high performance devices, and an HDMI port for quick connectivity to HDTVs and projectors.The updated MacBook Pros will ship with OS X Mavericks. Apple has also announced that it’s making iLife and iWorksuite of productivity applications free with every Mac purchase. Apple has redesigned these apps to take full advantage of OS X Mavericks and have been updated to 64-bit. These will be integrated with iCloud. Apple has priced the 13-inch MacBook Pros with Retina display starting at Rs 99,900 and the 15-inch variant starting at Rs 149,900. Both the models have started shipping right away. Along with this new release, Apple has killed off its non-Retina 15-inch model while you can still purchase the 13-inch version of it for Rs 89,990.
