Taiwanese electronics manufacturer BenQ has now announced the world's first wireless full HD projector, called W1500 in India. The event took place at the first InfoComm being held this year in the country. The wireless projector comes with a built-in bandwidth of 5GHz and is designed primarily for home theatre settings. The new device projects uncompressed full HD images from a range of sources like Blu-ray and DVD players, AV-R players, set-top boxes and gaming consoles without the need for HDMI cables. The projector comes with two built-in 10W speakers for users as well. The unit also comes with mobile device integration for wireless connectivity with units like Apple TV or an iPad. An additional feature seen in the W1500 is wireless support for 3D content from any connected source like a Blu-ray or DVD player. In addition to this, the projector can also convert 2D data to 3D projected data, according to Rajiv Singh Country Head and GM of BenQ India. Take a look at our interview with the BenQ head honcho below:
In addition to the high-tech W1500, the company has also launched a new series of entry-level projectors, termed the PW9600 and PX9500, which will come with the option of interchangeable lenses. This is aimed at large scale venues where different kinds of lenses may be needed. Also added to the line-up are two new projectors, termed SH963 and SX914, coming with 6,000 lumens of dual-lamp power, and in case of the latter model, support for extra-sharp XGA resolution. The projectors also come with connectivity options like dual HDMI. The W1500 wireless projector will be out in the market this month, and will be available for a market price of Rs 1, 95,000. The entry-level projectors coming with interchangeable lenses will be available in November onwards but does not have an official price tag yet.
