Nokia has unveiled two new ultra-affordable phones namely, Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM. Both phone models are almost identical, except for the additional SIM slot in the latter. Priced as low as $29 (approx. Rs 1,800), the 108 is said to be the most affordable camera phone. It is aimed at the millions of people across the world who are yet to own their first camera phone. Both Nokia phones feature a VGA camera, 1.8-inch colour screen, FM radio, MP3 player, and support for up to 32GB microSD card (card sold separately). The standby time for Nokia 108 single SIM model is up to 31 days and up to 25 days for the Nokia 108 Dual SIM. Both offer talk time of up to 13.8 hours.
Timo Toikkanen, Executive Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia said, “There remains a huge segment of the global population that has yet to own a camera phone. For the next billion people and beyond, we aim to bring new mobile experiences to ever-lower price points, and the Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM are great examples of this commitment.”Though there are many camera-equipped feature phones, none of them fall in this price category. However, the aforementioned price of the phone is excluding taxes and subsidies. The company is expected to start shipping the Nokia 108 and the Nokia 108 Dual SIM in the last quarter of this year.
