Finally, the camera-centric Nokia Lumia 1020 makes an official entry into the Indian market. The highlight of this Windows-based Nokia device is its gigantic 41-megapixel camera, which is said to be the second version of the camera seen in the PureView 808. Nokia will announce the price of the Lumia 1020 on October 10, a day before the phone hits stores. The Lumia 1020 sports a 4.5-inch display and gets the Windows Phone 8 Amber update. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. Along with the massive 41-megapixel shooter, it also brings the special camera app called Pro Camera. The Lumia 1020 also boasts of Nokia’s second-generation optical image stabilisation (OIS) engine, Zeiss optics with a 6-lens design. There’s a manual shutter and xenon flash too. The camera can shoot full HD video at 30 fps with impressive numbers for lossless zoom - 4x in 1080p, 6x in 720p. Manual controls include flash, focus, ISO, shutter speed, white balance and exposure. Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the Lumia 1020:

  • 4.5-inch AMOLED display with 1280 × 768 pixels resolution

  • 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, DLNA

  • GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS

Speaking about the BSI sensor on the Lumia 1020, it doesn’t really equip a 41MP sensor. Nokia has taken data from up to seven pixels to create each pixel of the final 5 megapixel image; so essentially, each image is either 34 megapixels (in 16:9 aspect ratio) or 38 megapixels (in 4:3) in size. As the most avid photographer may also not find the need to have such large images with them on their smartphones, Nokia has made it such that only the reduced 5 megapixel image is available for viewing on the phone and sharing with peers. The larger size image is only accessible when the phone is connected to a PC. Click here to know everything about the 41 megapixel camera.

Another optional accessory is the wireless charging shell priced at Rs 3,200 and the charging pad will cost Rs 4,000.
