It takes some time to get used to with the process of taking a screenshot. You'll have to use two buttons of your phone - power button and the home/menu button.
first press the power button and the menu/home button together. You need to hold those two buttons for at least two seconds and make sure that you have pressed both the buttons at the same time. If you do not press the button the same time, it will not take any screenshot. Pressing and holding the two buttons together for a few seconds will take a screenshot and it will be saved to your internal memory in folder called 'screenshot'.
