Samsung to reportedly introduce two tablets with AMOLED display in 2014

Looks like, Samsung is gearing up to bring in some tough competition for iPads. According to South Korean portal Naver, the manufacturer is working on some high-end tablets with AMOLED displays.According to the report, some unnamed industry sources have revealed that Samsung is working on 8-inch and 10-inch tablets, both featuring AMOLED displays. AMOLED or “Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode” displays are said to be faster, thinner and brighter than their LCD counterparts and they have excellent contrast ratio thanks to the deep blacks and vibrant colours.

Finally here!

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1

The tablets will fall under Samsung’s premium lineup, probably the Galaxy Tab range. Since Samsung’s Kinam Kim revealed that the company plans to introduce a device with a Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and a pixel density of 560ppi by 2014, there has been speculation that the S5 could feature that display. It's possible that Samsung has a similarly-specced larger panel for the tablet range. The last Samsung tablet to feature an AMOLED display of any kind was the short-lived Galaxy Tab 7.7, which was pulled out of stores due to a sales injunction. The report suggests that at least one of the tablets will release along with the alleged Galaxy 5. Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be mass-produced from January onwards for a February or March launch. It is around the same time that the next iteration of its smartwatch–Galaxy Gear 2–is also expected to hit markets. So it could be a busy first few months of 2014 for Samsung's devices team.
