Samsung's quad-core Galaxy Grand 2 to be launched in India on December 23
Samsung has started sending press invites for a Galaxy phone launch on Monday, December 23. Now we can confirm that the phone launch will be the successor to the ultra-successful Galaxy Grand. A source told us that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Grand 2. There is no word on the pricing, but we expect it to be priced around the Rs 22,000 mark with an MOP of around Rs 20,000. The Galaxy Grand 2 is a significantly-improved version of the Grand and resembles the Note 2. It has a large 5.25-inch display, with a 16:9 720p resolution. It comes with support for Samsung's Multi Window feature that allows multitasking on the device’s large screen. It measures 146.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm, and tips the scale at 163 grams.
Just like the Grand, this one has an 8-megapixel camera on the back and there’s an accompanying LED flash. On the front, there’s a 1.9-megapixel shooter. The processing speed has been bumped up as the Galaxy Grand 2 is powered by a quad-core CPu clocked at 1.2GHz and there's a healthy 1.5GB of RAM on board. It runs on Android 4.3, and there is no word on whether it will get Android KitKat. Of course, Samsung’s own TouchWiz will be running on top. Here’s a quick look at its key specifications:
