Quad-core Karbonn Titanium X with 5-inch full-HD display launched for Rs 18,490

Karbonn has finally launched its flagship Titanium X smartphone in India. Teased for many months, the phone gets a full HD display, just like the Titanium S7, which was launched last month. But its price tag of Rs 18,490 sets it apart as the top-end phone from Karbonn’s stable. The stars of the show are the 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920) IPS display and the quad-core 1.5GHz processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. This should ensure smooth performance as the smartphone ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. In terms of photography, the Titanium X brings a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with dual-LED flash to the battleground. To round off the high-end camera experience, there’s a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Internal storage is a healthy 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. Unlike many of its rivals, the Titanium X is a single SIM device, which supports micro-SIM cards. In keeping with the high price tag, Karbonn has added in NFC support, which makes it one of the first low-cost Indian smartphones to have this feature. The smartphone is backed by a 2300mAh battery, which is underwhelming. It is rated to deliver up to 6 hours of talk time, and up to 240 hours of standby time. Karbonn has packed in a host of sensors including a proximity sensor, a G sensor, a magnetic sensor, a gyroscope, and an ambient light sensor. We’ll have to wait and see if the addition of NFC, the large internal storage and the high-end display and CPU work in Karbonn’s favour as the similarly-priced Micromax Canvas Turbo has the advantage of being in the market for longer and of course, has Hugh Jackman’s marketing muscle behind it.
