Fleksy releases SDK for iOS developers to bring the keyboard to their app

Ever wanted to use a touch keyboard that was not the one that came with your iPhone? We’re getting there. Fleksy has introduced a new SDK for its gesture-based keyboard, with the aim of convincing developers to bake it into their apps, instead of waiting for Apple to allow replacement keyboards in the App Store. Fleksy is already a popular keyboard for Android devices and now the developer of the keyboard hopes to make a home in iOS too. In a blog post, the company announced the release of its SDK, which can be used to make Fleksy available to users on an app level on iOS devices. “That means any developer can incorporate Fleksy into his app, giving his users the choice to type with our award-winning keyboard,” the team wrote.

Fleksy is also available for iOS devices as a standalone app, but this was not the best way to use the app. The iOS app only allows users to type out quick messages, with quick shortcuts to copy and share the text. Hopefully, with the time you save by typing your messages on Fleksy, the copy-pasting wouldn’t seem too much of a big deal to most people. However, Fleksy now wants to bolster its presence on the iOS scene, albeit not as a replacement keyboard but as an in-app keyboard.

Currently, Fleksy has roped in apps like BlindSquare, GV Connect, Launch Center Pro and Wordbox to partner with it currently. Apps like BlindSquare are most ideal to work with Fleksy right now as it's always been marketed as a predictive keyboard that could help the visually impaired type better. You can download Fleksy for iOS from the App Store to get a dose of the alternative keyboard. Or you can download any of the aforementioned apps to get a better idea of the keyboard works.
