Tata Docomo has launched a Wi-Fi device dubbed 'Photon Max' that allows users to create their own wireless Internet zones anywhere. Using the Internet zones, users can then access the web through their phones, laptops, personal computers, etc.The Photon Max is capable of supporting up to five devices at a time. It offers speed of about 6.2 megabits per second. The device is currently available only for CDMA subscribers. However, the company plans to release it for GSM users in the next 10 to 15 days.

"While wireless data connectivity has greatly increased the level of user experience on mobile devices, Photon Max Wi-Fi promises video speeds and will allow data-hungry applications to run seamlessly between multiple users," Tata Docomo President Operations (Mobility) Elango T told reporters.Existing Tata Docomo Photon users can upgrade their services to Wi-Fi by buying Photon Max. These customers can also avail of the cashback offer that will nullify the device cost in 13 months, claims the company. Tata Docomo offers various Wi-Fi plans that start at Rs 650 and extend up to Rs 1,500.(With inputs from news agencies)
