It's looking increasingly likely that Sony is to launch a PS4 console bundle which will include a PlayStation Vita hand-held in a single pack - despite the company having denied plans to offer such a combination at retail.
The next-generation PS4 console can use a PS Vita handheld as a second screen. This was available in a limited form on the last-generation PS3, but Sony has said that all PS4 games that do not rely on PS4-only hardware such as PlayStation Move or the PlayStation Camera will be compatible with PS4 Link on the PS Vita.
As rumours circulated that Sony would offer a discounted bundle package for gamers who want the full PS4 experience but who don't own a PS Vita, the company was adamant: there will be no PS4 and PS Vita bundle pack - unless retailers chose to create one themselves separate from any official Sony bundle offers.
Now, industry publication MCV claims Sony has backtracked on that plan and will be launching a PS4 and PS Vita bundle pack ahead of the Christmas sales period. Coupled with a £2.5 million advertising campaign for the PS Vita, Sony is hoping that the move will help boost sales of its handheld over the holiday period.
Thus far, Sony has not confirmed pricing for the PS4 and PS Vita bundle, but buyers can expect a small saving over the cost of buying both devices separately.
