Samsung has officially revealed the Galaxy Grand 2, a 5.25in Android smartphone which the company calls "perfect" for watching movies or gaming on the go.
Slotting between the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 in terms of screen size, the mid-range Galaxy Grand 2 opts for a 1,280x720 resolution TFT display. To take advantage of the large screen users are able to run one application in two windows at the same time.
Powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and paired with 1.5GB of RAM, the Galaxy Grand 2 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean behind Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface. Beyond 8GB of internal memory, there's also a microSD card slot for adding up to 64GB of additional storage.
The 3G-only phone has a 2,600mAh battery which can deliver a claimed 10 hours of film playback and 17 hours of calls. The device also ships with dual-SIM support.
The Galaxy Grand 2 has an 8-megapixel camera with LED Flash and auto-focus, along with Samsung's camera app which includes the Best Face, Best Photo and Continuous Shot modes. The Story Album option allows users to organize pictures by timeline, and create and print albums from the device.
The bundled S Translator app provides instantaneous translations, while the S Travel option offers guides and travel information. Users can also use the Sound & Shot apps to record up to nine seconds of audio with their photos.
The Galaxy Grand 2 will be available in Black, White and Pink colour options and is due to go on sale in selected territories. There's currently no word on a UK release or price.
